The AANES announced on Wednesday in a press conference the new social contract, which was approved a day earlier by a majority. The contract has been formulated after a series of meetings and years of work, said the AANES statement.
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – An official from the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) said on Wednesday that the previous laws would be amended according to the provisions of the new Social Contract.
The AANES defines the Social Contract, which acts as North and East Syria’s constitution, as a set of theoretical and practical foundations, laws, and organizational rules which are established to determine the relationship between the administration and the people, and to clarify the rights and duties of people and officials within society.
Under the contract, which is divided into four chapters and consists of 134 articles, the name of the AANES and the structure of municipalities have changed. In addition, a court has been established to protect the contract.
Yasser al-Suleiman, vice-President of the General Council of the AANES, stated that the administration adopts laws issued by the General Council previously.
He told North Press that efforts will be made to amend the laws based on the content and provisions of the new social contract.
He emphasized that the purpose of the amendment is to address and rectify any legal gaps or loopholes.
