The Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) called, on Thursday, human rights, international, and humanitarian institutions, as well as fact-finding committees, to work towards conducting a clear, transparent, and impartial investigation regarding massacres and violations committed by Turkey in northeast Syria.

“Amid the developments in the region, especially in northeastern Syria, and the blatant aggression by Turkey against our people, institutions, infrastructure, and civilians, Erdogan seeks to speak about the current reality irrationally,” the Foreign Relations Department said in a statement.

Since Oct. 5, Turkey launched many airstrikes, artillery shells, and drone strikes on vital infrastructure, which caused power stations in Hasakah, Amuda, Qamishli, Tirbe Spiyeh, and Derik to go out of service.

On Oct. 1, two individuals carried out a bomb attack in front of the building of the Ministry of Interior in Ankara injuring two police officers.

On Oct.4, Fidan claimed that the two assailants who carried out the attack had been trained in Syria. “From now on, all infrastructure, large facilities and energy facilities belonging to (armed Kurdish groups) in Iraq and Syria are legitimate targets for our security forces,” he threatened.

The statement described Erdogan’s speech as it is silly and far from the minimum standards of honesty, noting that he seeks, in his statements, to exploit events and developments to cover up his domestic policies.

It added that Erdogan tries to exploit Arab and Islamic sentiments for his personal interests, citing his statements about Gaza regarding electricity outage, and the humanitarian situation as an example.

The statement criticized Erdogan’s recent statement about Gaza, stating that it is a clear hypocrisy and self-condemnation, saying, “He cannot deceive the public opinion as he practices the worst acts in the region, especially in the northeastern regions of Syria, after destroying the infrastructure”.

The statement emphasized the need to activate an international accountability mechanism for the massacres committed by Erdogan and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The department concluded the statement by stating that it will continue its human rights struggle against Turkish violations, clarifying that international silence on Turkish violations is a direct encouragement for Erdogan against the northeastern regions of Syria and its inhabitants.
