The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) called on Tuesday for the newly formed Syrian administration, led by Ahmad al-Sharaa, to be genuinely representative of all Syrians.

Hussein Othman, co-chair of the DAANES’ Executive Council, emphasized that the new government must include all components of Syrian society during the political transition and shaping the country’s future.

“We urgently need a national conference that brings together all political forces in Syria,” Othman stated, highlighting the importance of rejecting external dictates and avoiding narrow or exclusive agendas.

He underlined that Syria is at a critical juncture in its history, making it essential for the political transition to be carefully planned to ensure the country’s stability and safety.

Othman also called for the formation of a preparatory committee for the national conference, ensuring inclusive participation by all Syrians and avoiding the mistakes of the former Ba’ath regime.

He noted that the DAANES has been advocating for Syrian-Syrian dialogue since the fall of al-Assad, driven by its belief in the importance of dialogue to achieve mutual understanding and a shared vision for the future.

The initiative, Othman explained, is rooted in the DAANES’ Syrian identity and its commitment to preserving national sovereignty, which continues to be violated by regional powers.

The AANES envisions a decentralized future for Syria, he added, but stressed that this vision should be discussed and decided through dialogue or at a national conference.

Othman further criticized Turkish interventions in Syria, describing them as destabilizing and exacerbating the country’s challenges.
