The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES) called on the international community on Sunday to pressure Turkey into halting its attacks on the region, which have targeted critical infrastructure and public service facilities.

In an official statement, the AANES condemned the Turkish military’s shelling of key sites, including Tishrin Dam, the People’s Municipality in the town of al-Jarniyah, west of Raqqa city, and the sugar factory in Maskanah town, labeling these acts as “clear crimes and violations of all international covenants and agreements.”

The statement accused Turkey of intentionally creating a severe humanitarian crisis, comparable to the situation in Hasakah and its surrounding villages, where over one million people are deprived of water due to Turkey’s occupation of the Alouk water station in Ras al-Ain (Sere Kaniye), north of Hasakah city.

It further warned that Turkey’s targeting of Tishrin Dam threatens both energy and water resources in the region.

Since the collapse of the Assad regime, areas around Manbij, particularly the Tishrin Dam, have been repeatedly targeted by Turkish forces and their affiliated armed factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA).

The attacks have raised significant concerns about the dam’s stability, with local officials issuing near-daily warnings about the catastrophic consequences of continued strikes.
