Today, hundreds of Syrian citizens took to the streets in the capital, Damascus, in a demonstration where they demanded a civil system and the participation of women in public life and political work in the new administration in Syria. They also raised slogans like "No free homeland without free women."

Hundreds of women and men demonstrated in al-Omayyad Square in Damascus today, demanding a civil system and the participation of women in public life and political work in the new administration in Syria.

The protesters chanted slogans such as "Free Civil Syria" and "We want democracy, not theocracy," holding placards that read "Towards a State of Law and Citizenship" and "No Free Homeland without Free Women."

The French news agency quoted retired employee Majda Moudar as saying during the demonstration, "I am here because we feel that all the women and men of Syria should be present, because for the first time we feel that we have a presence, we speak, we express ourselves, and we listen to each other." She added, "The new Syria should be for everyone, and this is our right..."Women have a significant role in political work, and I encourage every woman to express her opinion."

She affirmed that Syrians will be on the lookout for any stance that insults women and will not accept it, given the end of the era during which Syrians remained silent.

The spokesman for the political administration of "Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham," Obaida Arnaout, mentioned during a press statement about the role of women in the future of the country that "the essence of women and their biological and psychological nature do not fit all positions, such as the Ministry of Defense, for example."

These statements sparked a wave of widespread criticism from citizens and activists in the field of women's rights on social media platforms.
