“It is important that the governments and countries of Europe assume their responsibilities towards their citizens. I also feel very sad because the Spanish government has not taken any serious step so far, and does not want to return children and women.”
The Department of Foreign Relations in North and East Syria welcomed Javier Nart, Member of the European Parliament and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Security and Defense Subcommittee of the European Union Parliament.
Member of the European Parliament and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Security and Defense Subcommittee of the European Parliament, Javier Nart, arrived in northern and eastern Syria on a visit to review the situation and the latest developments in the region, according to the official website of the Department of Foreign Relations.
The two parties discussed the experience of the Autonomous Administration, which was formed in coordination between all components after agreeing on a social contract, in addition to the role of women and the joint presidency system in all its institutions.
In addition to the political process in Syria and ways to end the Syrian crisis, the department’s co-chair, Abdul Karim Omar said, “The principle of a democratic political solution and constructive dialogue is the basis of the Autonomous Administration project to build a democratic and decentralized Syria, and it is important to implement International Resolution 2254 after amending the High Negotiations Committee and the Constitutional Committee in order to it represents all components of Syria’s nationalism, especially the Kurds.
Regarding the security and political situation, Omar said, “Any possible Turkish aggression on Syrian territory is a new opportunity for the Islamic State to reorganize itself and launch terrorist and destabilizing operations. Turkey is also continuing its policy of demographic change, by building settlements in Afrin with the support of associations The Palestinian, Qatari and Kuwaiti Brotherhood, not to mention the daily crimes of killing, rape and kidnapping in the occupied territories by its terrorist factions.
Omar added, “The administration is facing great economic and humanitarian challenges, especially after the closure of the Tel Koçer (Al Yaroubiya) crossing and the fact that only a small percentage of humanitarian aid has arrived, as it arrives through Damascus, which further exacerbates the suffering of the residents of the area.”
Javier expressed his concern about the challenges and burdens faced by the Autonomous Administration alone, and expressed his admiration for the Autonomous Administration’s experience and praised the sacrifices made by the people of the region in order to protect it.
He said, “The Autonomous Administration here represents all the components, and it is a good model for a solution and building a new Syria.”
Javier also touched on the dangers of capturing ISIS mercenaries, saying: “It is important that the governments and countries of Europe assume their responsibilities towards their citizens. I also feel very sad because the Spanish government has not taken any serious step so far, and does not want to return children and women.”
Mr. Javier is scheduled to tour northern and eastern Syria and meet with administration officials to see closely the situation in the region.
