The Presidential Council Holds Its First Meeting for 2023
The Presidential Council of the Syrian Democratic Council held its first regular meeting for 2023 to discuss the council’s policies, positions and the path it leads to resolve the Syrian crisis in accordance with international decisions on resolving the Syrian crisis, which meet the aspirations of the Syrian people.
The “SDC” components including political and community parties and movements believed that the momentum that the council received in 2022 due to its efforts for the Syrian resolution and the reunification of Syrian parties embodies the goals of the Syrian Revolution. The members of the Presidential Council agreed on the importance of supporting the council after the solidarity of several Syrian parties with the policies and goals of regional countries, which mostly contradict the aspirations of the Syrian people and their revolution.
The Presidential Council renewed its support for the path of dialogue among Syrians as a way to achieve transition and democratic change, in line with the international will represented by international resolution 2254, and to work on clarifying and enshrining the concept and idea of the Autonomous Administration as one of the democratic resolutions and as a natural alternative to centralized tyranny.
The Presidential Council blamed the power in Damascus for the collapse of the country’s economy and the difficult living conditions experienced by Syrians as a result of its rejection of initiatives and paths of the resolution and its adoption of intransigent and military policies to deal with the crisis in the country.
The meeting members warned of the rapprochement between the regimes of Ankara and Damascus, which was set for certain arrangements that serve the goals of both sides for staying in power, away from the interests of the Syrian and Turkish peoples, as Turkey still occupies large parts of the north of Syria to attack and threaten Syrians on a daily basis along the border.
At the same time, the Presidential Council called on the international community to take a firm stance towards the Turkish aggressions and towards the targeting of civilians and vital facilities in the northern and eastern regions of Syria by its military drones, and to consider Turkey as an aggressor country that is not committed to international laws and conventions and at the same time, it poses a threat to the security and safety of the region and an obvious threat to regional peace.
On the other hand, the meeting members blessed the success of the operations of the Syrian Democratic Forces in pursuing the remnants of the terrorist organization (ISIS), and called on the countries active regarding the Syrian file and the international community to continue to support the efforts of “the SDF” in their war against terrorism and for supporting stabilization.
Regarding the organizational side, the members of the Presidential Council discussed the incoming requests for accession to the Council, reviewed the proposal of council’s strategy for 2023 and enriched it with additions and suggestions that serve the council’s vision to resolve the country’s crisis, which is about its thirteenth year.
